PostMork Interview Workshop in APIIT by HCE Organization

Human Capital Enhancement (HCE) is running a Corporate Social Responsibility Project from Sept till November 2009. The nature of this CSR project is to conduct mock interview session for undergraduate students. HCE has selected me, Elaine Loo to execute this project as a speaker. Conducting Mock Interview Session has been a passion for me to deliver the knowledge. It is vital to equipped required skills before attempting to the real interview as the possibility of securing a job increases tremendously.

In the duration of 3 months, I conducted the mock interview workshop in various colleges. The college which left me the deepest positive impression was APIIT. On the 4th November 2009, I was being welcomed by the person in charge with a great smile and warm welcome. The participation number was overwhelming which proved that the students possessed great learning attitude and were serious about future employment. Due to high demand, I went to the college for the second visit on the 6th November 2009.

The session started with an enthusiastic round of applause and self-introduction. As first impression counts, they were required to have a first hand-shake with the students around them. With slight touch up as to provide them the importance of firm and confident hand-shake, students were asked to have a second round. Up to expectation, they were much confident in portraying themselves and willing to go out of their comfort zone in terms of going corner to corner of the room instead of shaking others’ hand only standing on the spot. The participation of the students was responsive and energetic.

Tips of preparing an interview session were shared and the important point such as punctuality was highlighted. I would like to express another positive image of APIIT’s students due to the punctuality of students attending the workshop. It was as high as 85%. This shows that the culture in the college has been running well and possessing good coordination.
The role play session was the climax of the session. Students acted the role as the applicant and I was the interviewer. They were required to attempt questions within a short period of time. It was to my surprise that the students possessed well equipped skills to endeavor the challenge. Generally, the questions were well answered.

The role play session ended with their score distributed individually. Each candidate was given a score of performance during the mock interview session. 3 best candidates were selected as they possessed the highest score among others. Justification was given as why they were chosen as well as the skills required to attempt those expected interview questions were shared.

The workshop ended with a closing speech by Mr Ragu, the department head of Student Service Department. The experience in APIIT was great and I sincerely comment that the friendliness and quality of students and staff would definitely bring the institution to the next level.
